Wildlife Viewing & Tourism

The Kenai Peninsula has certainly one of the most versatile ecosystems in North America. It is host to everything from huge moose & docile caribou; to whales & other sea life; to the illusive predators of the forest; to the scores of bird species down to the tiniest lichen. We have charming truly Russian villages where the folks still speak Russian and live according to the norms of their culture and not the whims of ours. Many talented artists and artisans live and show their works at several areas of the Peninsula. While much of the Kenai Peninsula can be enjoyed without the need for a guide, there are some trips which are truly special and should not be missed!

KENAI FJORDS CRUISE
This popular trip departs from Seward and cruises through Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park - 580,000 acres of spectacular coastal wilderness. You will see glaciers and wildlife, such as Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Puffins, Eagles, Sea Otters, Dolphins and occasionally Orcas (Killer Whales). This is truly one of the most stunning places on earth. If you would like to fish while in the awe inspiring setting of mountains, rock cliffs and glaciers, we will help you to catch Halibut, Salmon, Sea Bass and Lingcod for an additional charge. Be sure to pack a lunch, it's a long day.

BEAR VIEWING BUSH PLANE FLY-OUT
You will leave by floatplane right from the dock in front of our lodge and be flown to a remote river on the West Side of Cook Inlet. There you may watch and photograph bears from your boat, or stand within a close distance of the bears and fish for the same Salmon that these huge Coastal Brown Bears are attempting to catch. This is an experience that most people can only dream about or watch on the Discovery Channel. This is typically a 5 - 7 hour trip though weather can alter the length of the trip. Be sure to pack a lunch, it's a long day.

RIVER RAFTING FLOAT TRIP
This scenic float trip takes you from the headwaters of the Kenai River and through the calm waters in the mountains of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Be on the lookout for Moose, Bear, Bald Eagles, Loons and various waterfowl. This trip may be taken in a "Drift Boat" for an additional charge if you would like to fish along the way for Dolly Varden Trout, Sockeye Salmon or Trophy Rainbow Trout.

CANOEING IN THE KENAI NATONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
A true wilderness experience. Mad River canoes and all equipment except sleeping bags is included. The refuge, along with the Boundary Waters Canoe systems in Minnesota is the only designated wilderness canoe trail systems in the country. We have a variety of trip lengths to offer that will fit your comfort level. The camp & meals are included in these fully guided trips.

ULTIMATE EXPEDITION
(An optional tour) we don't want you to leave Alaska without having the understanding of why it is named and revered as the "Great Land". You will leave the lodge in a floatplane and fly over rugged mountains and past active volcanoes. You will fly right up next to spectacular unnamed glaciers and peer down into these mountains of blue ice. You will land in remote rivers and lakes to take pictures of breathtaking scenery and possibly wet a line to catch Alaska's famous migrating Salmon, Dolly Varden, Lake Trout, Grayling, Northern Pike and Trophy Rainbow Trout. We will have lunch on a wilderness beach and sit in awe of the beautiful panoramic vistas. By covering hundreds of miles in the comfort of a bush plane and visiting the Alaska Range and the Bristol Bay Drainage, you will learn why the natives honor and respect this vast wilderness filled with wildlife. During your expedition, you will fly around snow-capped mountaintops to view Caribou and dip down in the lush valleys to glimpse majestic Moose and possibly huge Grizzly Bears. Be sure to pack a lunch, it's a long day.
